Frequently asked questions
Is OASIS a Non-Profit Organisation?
OASIS is a Non-Profit Organisation (261-125-NPO) and Public Benefit Organisation (930033097). We have four directors that oversee OASIS’s work and help guide our decision-making process.
Please note: We do not make donations to any organisations or individuals. We are a non-profit organisation raising funds and donations in kind for our programmes.
What about Section 18A Certification Rights?
Yes! For all donations received, Section 18A Certificates can be awarded. These certificates can be presented to SARS for further tax relief. Section 18A of the Income Tax Act No 58 of 1962 (the Act) allows donors to deduct donations made to registered Section 18A organisations from their taxable income (limiting such deductions to 10% of the taxable income of both corporate entities and individuals).
And qualification for socio-economic development?
All donations to OASIS qualify in terms of code 700 of the Codes of Good Practice on Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment as Socio-Economic Development (SED) contributions. Corporate donors will, therefore, earn points under this category of the B-BBEE scorecard. Upon receipt of donations, we will issue the donor with:
- Section 18A Certificate
- A letter from OASIS confirming the contribution, qualifying the donor for full recognition in terms of the code mentioned above.
- A Competent Person’s Report confirming the nature of the donation and the black beneficiary status.
If you would like to make a donation, please email your contact and billing details to [email protected]. Upon receiving your donation, we will issue an invoice and send you the SED agreement.
